Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th Oct 2022
10am-4pm
Join printmaker Scarlett Rebecca on this introduction to etched linocut and explore the potentials of lino in an exciting new way.
Over the 2 days we will make several blocks and use a variety of materials to create resists, exploring mark making, line and tone to create our images.
Etched linocut provides a way to explore the spontaneous, organic and uncontrolled marks that are so often difficult to achieve with linocut.
We will experiment with different inking methods and translucency with the use of extender to create subtle blends.
We will have lots of fun playing and experimenting, there will be plenty of resource materials available as starting points for your work and lots of technical support and advice.
Scarlett Rebecca is a printmaker based in North Wales where she works from her own studio, she also teaches regularly online and at workshops around the country. Scarlett works mainly with relief print and lithography, focussing on stone lithography, a form of printmaking deemed to be ‘endangered’ by Heritage Crafts.
Scarlett’s prints focus on portraiture and figurative work, with pattern featuring heavily within her prints. She often starts with a series of drawings and tries to capture the spontaneous and uninhibited nature of drawing within the prints.
