Course info
Join us for a 2-day silkscreen printing workshop with North Yorkshire based artist and printmaker Angela Hall. Angela makes expressive and spontaneous prints based on her sketchbook drawings. Subject matter presents its-self in all kinds of locations including domestic interiors, gardens, street architecture, travel, landscape etc. Her designs are created using bold contoured outlines and simple imagery. Mark-making and texture are over-layed with colour and there is a strong narrative running through out her work.
Angela uses both the photo and mono print silkscreen process working with both hand painted and collaged stencils and maintains a simple textural colour palette by mixing inks on the screen.
Angela will share how she develops her ideas from sketchbook into print alongside a range of experimental printing processes that she uses to make her work. Participants will be guided through both the photo and monoprint silkscreen techniques and she will provide you with all the knowledge you need to work from a home studio including her very own print hacks!
Both workshop days will enable participants to produce a small edition of prints that combine a range of silkscreen techniques alongside the technical knowledge such as making photo stencils from a range of materials, painting and drawing directly onto the screen and mixing and using colour.
The workshop sessions are suitable for complete beginners’ as well as those with some experience who would like to experiment with the process.
