10am - 1pm
A concertina binding is a structure that relies on a series of accordion folds to create the textblock. In this workshop we will be concertina binding, utilising your own printed artwork. It is a simple method of binding that, once practiced, can be adapted to incorporate more complex designs. The cover material is slightly thinner than that of the textblock, allowing it to fold over the edges of the board.
You will come away with:
- one or two A6 handbound books
- an introduction into the hand-skills required for bookbinding
- a basic understanding of the structure of bindings
You will need to bring:
- 20+ printed approx 200gsm A5 papers, that can be trimmed A6, these will not all be used.
