Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th October 2022
Join printmaker Jenny McCabe on this introduction to less toxic methods for those new to etching or refreshing their knowledge of this intaglio printmaking process.
Over the 2 days we will make several plates and use a variety of mark making techniques to create lines and tones on our plates.
We will be working on Aluminium plates and using spray paint to create aquatints resists, we will look at creative drawing and masking techniques to produce our artworks.
We will experiment with different inking and wiping methods demonstrating how to create a variety of prints from the same plate.
We will have lots of fun playing and experimenting, there will be plenty of resource materials available as starting points for your work and lots of technical support and advise.
Tutor info Jenny McCabe is a printmaker based in Lancaster where she works from her own studio, she also teaches regularly in printrooms around the country. Jenny works mainly with intaglio printmaking methods preferring Collagraph and metal plate etchings. Her work always starts with drawing and the technical challenge of turning a simple piece of metal or card into a piece of art. She breathes life into the plates with her decisive, quick, and animated mark- making. Wildlife and nature feature heavily in Jenny’s work, using messy gestural lines to capture the energy and movement of the subjects.
