Custom Thermal Screen (Thermofax)

Thermal Screens are ideal for creating your own fabrics with spontaneous scattered printing or layered textures! Perfect for creating detailed designs for quilting, surface design, logos, labels and more.

Suitable for fine line drawings and also bold, large areas. Unlike a traditional Thermofax, this system is direct from the computer to the MiScreen Thermal Screen Maker. The MiScreen system works using a thermal head that removes the plastic coating from the mesh.

Do I Want a Thermal Screen or an Exposed Silk Screen?

Thermal Screens are a good alternative to an exposed silk screen as they take up less space. The turnaround time is likely to be faster for the thermal screen than an exposed screen. 

However, these screens are not as robust as an exposed screen. They must always be kept flat when printing and washing or the 2mm thick perspex frame frame could snap. 

What's the turnaround time?

Turnaround time is approximately one week. Please be aware that screens are made in batches once a week, often on Wednesdays. 

Artwork Specifications

Artwork must be full black, delivered as either 210mm x 105mm (landscape) or A4 portrait (210mm x 297mm). The artwork needs to be 203.2 dpi. Jpeg or PDF.

Multiple images can be put on the screen, especially the large size. If you would like several images on one screen, please send us only one PDF or jpeg with multiple designs laid out the way you would like them on the screen.

How to Use Your Thermal Screen

Print in the same way as the traditional Thermofax: shiny side down and the side with the Handprinted sticker facing up.

Clean your thermal screen under cold, running water with a soft sponge or cloth. Dry with a soft towel.

The screens must be kept flat when printing to avoid snapping the frame.

External dimensions = 24cm x 31cm. Approximate internal dimensions = 17.5cm x 24.5cm. Printable area 10.5cm x 21cm. 2mm thick perspex frame.

Large @ £30
External dimensions = 31cm x 43cm. Approximate internal dimensions =25cm x 37cm. Printable area A4. 2mm thick perspex frame.
