Join printmaker Paul Catherall on this introduction to multi block and reduction linocuts. Looking at ways to create tones and textures with two or more colours.
Over two days we’ll be planning, carving and printing a coloured linocut with at least two blocks. We’ll look at techniques and tips on cutting and registration.
We’ll also look at colour overlays and experimenting with different ways of creating texture with inks and the actual linoleum.
Paul Catherall is renowned for his clean, bold architectural linocuts, focusing mainly on modernist and brutalist landmarks. Commissions include the Royal Shakespeare Company, Penguin Books and the Southbank Centre. He has been one of London Transport’s most prolific poster artists over the past twenty years. Raised in Coventry and based in London Paul divides his work between home and Artichoke Print Workshop in Brixton. He is a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and mainly exhibits with Eames Fine Art'
All of our workshops take place in our Handprinted Studio, 22 Arun Business Park, Shripney Road, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, PO22 9SX.
