Reading pattern can be complex, but making patterns is actually easy if you know where to start. On this course we will look at works of famous and renowned pattern designers to help understand some simple elements of designing repeats.

On this 2-day workshop Nicola Cliffe from Madder Cutch & Co, will be showing you how to transform your own inspired design into a pattern repeat and screen print onto a fabric. Learn to screen print onto fabric using paper stencils and exposed screens.

Nicola is the founder of Madder Cutch & Co. She is a chemistry teacher with a lifelong love of textiles. Leaving the classroom to follow a childhood dream of attending art college, Nicola was triggered by a strong desire to re-dress the careless use of synthetic dyes worldwide. She completed an MA with distinction in sustainable textile design at Chelsea College of Art and Design. She has developed a beautiful range of natural dye printing inks and has written the fantastic book: Printing with Natural Dyes.
