Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August 2025
10am - 4pm (both days)
Join us for a 2-day experimental printmaking workshop with the artist Sam Marshall. Sam is the author of the bestselling book, ‘LINOCUT – A Creative Guide to Making Beautiful Prints’ published by Bloomsbury. She is currently working on her second book ‘SKETCH’ which will be published in 2026.
Sam makes linocuts and etchings inspired by her sketchbook drawings done whilst travelling around the world. She is passionate about drawing and believes everyone can draw. During this 2-day workshop she will encourage you to use your drawings and sketchbooks to provide inspiration to create linocuts, monoprints and drypoints. You will experiment with stencil, transfer, reductive and additive monoprint. Sam will also show you different ways to use old linocut blocks and demonstrate how to use Chine Colle with drypoint and monoprint to bring your prints to life. This will be a fast moving and dynamic workshop where you will produce an abundance of prints and discover new approaches to printmaking.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and as well as more experienced printmakers. Sam is also teaching a two day Linocut course for us on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th August.
