Gelli-Plate & Monoprint on Fabric with Karen Carter - Thurs 22nd October 2026
Special Order Item Please see below for details.
Thursday 22nd October 2026
10am - 4pm
Create multi-layered pieces of work on fabric using gelli-printing and monoprint techniques. Combine these with some stencils and stamps, a splash of colour, and a bit of stitch.
We will make our own gelli-printed cloth using stamps, stencils, line monoprints, and rubbings, to provide shape, texture, and focal points. Embellish with decorative stitching, dimensional paints, beads etc.
Use your printed cloth in conjunction with found materials such as lace, scrim, netting and patterned fabrics.
A fun experimental printing workshop to transform your collection of plain fabrics into something perfect for making stitch-pots, book covers, wall art or snippet rolls.
There will be lots of demos & step-by-step instruction in this fun and informal workshop.
You will need to bring:
Fabric: Plain cotton or calico plus any other coloured or patterned scraps you would like to experiment with
Drawing pencil
Acrylics if you have them – don’t buy specially – the tutor will bring some
Mixing palette, brushes (whatever you have),
Kitchen roll, apron
Inspiration / source material – work with a theme to give coherence to your samples e.g seedheads / shells and pebbles etc
The tutor will bring small A6 size gelli-plates – if you have a larger one you would like to use please feel free to bring it along.
