Printing a Linocut with the Essdee Block Printing Inks

Say hello to the Essdee Block Printing Inks, a new arrival for the Handprinted shop!

These water-based inks come in 35 colours, including 9 metallics and 6 fluorescent shades. They're highly pigmented and designed for use with Lino, SoftCut, MasterCut, Printfoam and more!

In today's post, we're testing the beautiful Pearlescent Blue with our Japanese Vinyl Jellyfish block.

After rolling out a small amount of ink onto our inking plate, we used a 60mm Wire Handled Roller to apply a nice, even layer of ink to our block. The ink transferred well and provided good coverage.

Here, we're using Shoji paper, a lovely, lightweight Japanese paper, perfect for printing by hand.

To take our print, we used an Abig baren.

Here is the finished print!

We're very impressed with the shimmer of this ink and the coverage once printed.

As these inks are water-based, they're easy to clean with soap and water.
